Adecco's 'Where-the-Jobs-Are' Report Shows Increased Hiring in the Tech Sector in Wisconsin

Business Wire
August 19, 2005

MILWAUKEE, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 18, 2005--In advance of the Wisconsin state unemployment report, Adecco (NYSE:ADO), the staffing industry's market leader in the U.S. and the world, today announced i t is seeing increased demand for employees in the Milwaukee and Madison areas for a range of technical positions in the manufacturing, financial/insurance, banking and bioscience industries. Wisconsin is one of many areas across the country where Adecco is responding to a growing need for contingent workers from a wide variety of employers.

Scott Zorn, Adecco Technical area vice president in Wisconsin, says, "The companies we work with are feeling more comfortable that the economy is improving and are moving forward with projects that have been on hold for the last two or three years. As such, we are seeing a strong increase in technology-related positions."

Adecco is seeing strong demand for design engineers, web development specialists, engineering technicians and especially IT technical support staff. Companies looking for mid-to senior-level engineers are hiring people to fill temp-to-perm and direct-hire positions on an immediate basis. Entry-level IT help desk and desktop support positions in financial, insurance and banking institutions are in abundance and these types of companies are hiring temporary workers with the expectation that successful employees will often convert their jobs into full-time positions.

Zorn also notes, "The strong academic presence in Madison has created a hotbed of medical and bioscience research activity in the local marketplace. Biotech companies moving into the area to be near academic and research centers continue to hire lab technicians, scientists and bioengineers."

Zorn adds, "Overall, we have seen a transition to an employees' market. Job seekers who have a solid track record of relevant experience in these areas are in such high demand that they now have a great opportunity to find an ideal position through firms like Adecco."

Adecco releases its "Where the Jobs Are" report in advance of the state unemployment reports to provide more depth and breadth to the employment picture in selected regions. The report is based on interviews with Adecco recruiters across the country and consists of press releases that report on hiring trends in regions experiencing employment growth. The trends in these regions are not intended to be indicators of nationwide trends.
