Every Woman Magazine Expands to Quarterly Distribution Under New Ownership

Press Release
August 22, 2005

Women's Consumer Health Magazine Written and Solely Distributed By Members of the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses

NEW YORK, Aug. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Under new leadership, Every Woman
magazine will expand from an annual publication to a quarterly publication in
2006, with its Spanish-language sister, Toda Mujer, becoming semi-annual, with
future plans to market directly to consumers via subscription and news stand
sales. Both versions are the only consumer publications to contain health
information and advice written by leading women's health nurses and reviewed
by the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN)
and actively distributed by AWHONN nurses to their patients during the moment
of care to help women take a more active role in their own healthcare.
These changes have been made under new leadership of the five-year-old
magazine, which was purchased by Healthspring, Inc. earlier in 2005. Other
changes have included the promotion of Marcus Diggle to Chief Executive
Officer from Executive Vice President, Marketing & Sales.
According to Diggle, "Nurses spend more time with each patient than other
healthcare provider and Every Woman leverages the close relationship that
exists between women and their nurses," adding that AWHONN nurses provide
primary care, both on their own and in consultations with physicians.
"Distribution is increasing primarily because Every Woman is 'actively
distributed' as an educational tool by AWHONN nurses who use the content to
provide incremental health information to their patients during in-office
moment-of-care to help drive patient compliance with both drug treatment and
lifestyle changes." Every Woman editorial departments include Health Watch,
Food & Fitness, Healthy Body, Mind & Spirit, Well-Woman, Prevention and Your
Life: Healthy People, Places, Things and Ideas.

Readers Spurred to Action
Based on a reader survey, 85 percent of readers (89 percent with Internet
access) took some type of action as a result of reading an issue; better
managed their stress (20 percent); visited their healthcare provider more
often (13 percent); quit smoking (6 percent); and/or changed their diet,
eating habit or healthcare habits (40 percent).
"Every Woman is a multimedia, bilingual women's healthcare brand that
delivers Rx-grade patient education to millions of women to spur behavior
changes that lead to healthier lifestyles; promote the treatment of otherwise
undiagnosed disease states; educate women about their disease states and the
way their drug therapy works; and reinforce patient compliance and persistence
with respect to their therapy," said Diggle.
Rx-grade patient education is focused on evidence- and practice-based;
expert-authored; referenced and current; comprehensive; decision-focused;
user-friendly; free from commercial bias; and distributed by nurses at the
point-of-care. A reader survey found that 95 percent of respondents feel the
magazine provides the right amount of coverage on each topic; and 89 percent
find the information easy to understand.

Benefits to Advertisers
According to a 2004 Gallup poll, nurses are the most trusted professional
group in the United States, scoring higher than judges, police officers and
doctors. And in a separate survey of Every Woman readers, 90 percent describe
their relationship with their nurse practitioner as either "good" or
"excellent." In addition, 80 percent spend greater than or equal to 20
minutes on an average visit to their nurse practitioner, with a median time of
34 minutes; and 84 percent agree or strongly agree their nurse practitioner is
a good source of healthcare information.
The survey also found that 24 percent of readers asked a healthcare
provider about an advertised product; further investigated an advertised
product or service (16 percent); and/or called a manufacturer's toll-free
number for more information (11 percent).
